Why this can slip. Valve-scheduled unlock times are occasionally moved by days or hours, and a game can go live slightly before or after its timestamp while the store page catches up. If the countdown hits zero and there is still no buy button, refresh the Steam store page rather than assuming a delay.
Can you pre-order Walkers?
No. As of October 26, 2026 there is no pre-purchase option on Steam. The purchase area offers only the free demo download and an "Add to your wishlist" button, and the game page has no price at all.

- Wishlisting is the only action available now, and it makes Steam notify you at launch.
- Editions, pre-order bonuses, launch discount: nothing announced — TBA.
Early Access or 1.0?
This one is genuinely unclear, so we are not going to guess. Steam's genre metadata for app 4779470 includes an Early Access genre entry, and "Early Access" appears among the community tags — but the store page's purchase area shows a plain "planned release date" banner with no Early Access disclaimer text. Either the game launches in Early Access with the banner wording not applied to this locale, or the metadata is stale from earlier tagging.
Practical advice: expect that mechanics described on this site (combat balance, survival tuning, planned features like CO-OP, fishing and farming) may still change after launch. Everything we describe from the demo is labelled as demo-build behaviour.
The demo is already out
You do not have to wait for October 30 to play: Walkers Demo has been live since October 19, 2026. It is free, Windows-only, and has its own Steam app (5368490) with achievements, stats and leaderboards enabled.
The steam:// button opens the Steam client. If nothing happens, install Steam first, or search "Walkers Demo" in the Steam store.
What to do while you wait
- Play the demo — it is the only way to see the current build, and the developer has shipped eleven devlogs describing demo changes in the last week.
- Read the beginner guide so your first hour is not spent dying to thirst.
- Check the system requirements; an 8 GB install and a GTX 960 is a fairly modest floor.
